The 45 W USB-C Power Supply is the most capable official Raspberry Pi power supply. On a Raspberry Pi 5 it negotiates the full 5.1 V / 5 A profile over USB Power Delivery, which lets the Pi raise its USB current limit from 600 mA to 1.6 A for power-hungry peripherals such as SSDs and hard drives. Because it also offers 9, 12, 15 and 20 V PD profiles, the same supply charges phones, tablets and USB-C laptops, and it is the supply Raspberry Pi ships with the Raspberry Pi 500+.
Compared with the 27 W supply it has the extra PD profiles and a longer 1.5 m cable. Recommended for Raspberry Pi 5, Raspberry Pi 500 and 500+; works with any USB-C-powered Raspberry Pi.
